Critical Care Management

Manned by a team of dedicated and experienced Intensivists and Nursing staff, the Critical Care Department of Tristar is one of the best in South Gujarat. The most seriously ill or injured patients are cared for by the critical care intensive unit. Here experts provide specialized care for people who have experienced serious ill or major trauma, as well as those with other critical medical needs.

For the first time in South Gujarat we have introduced the concept of Cubicles in the ICU which negates the chances of cross infection due to isolated HVAC system. The ICU is equipped with ventilators, cardiac monitors, pulse oxymeters NIBP Monitors, Defibrillators and other state of the art gadgets for providing best critical care services. Special care has been taken so that the patients do not develop ICU Psychosis.

Tristar Hospital and ICU’s critical care doctors treat people who need advanced monitoring and care. The full spectrum of critical care services is provided by doctors and other medical professionals, who are present in Tristar Hospital and ICU for 24x7 days.

Tristar Hospital and ICU’s Department of Critical Care and Multidisciplinary Program emphasizes a team-based approach to care. Critical care doctors lead a team of experienced professionals, which includes resident physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, vascular access specialists, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and nurses as needed. Tristar Hospital and ICU critical care doctors also work closely with doctors from many specialties, including anesthesiology, internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, cardiovascular medicine, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, nephrology, pediatrics, surgery and transplant medicine. Together, the team provides high-quality and safe critical care in operating rooms, ICUs and other hospital settings.

Because the experience of being critically ill can have lasting effects, even after leaving the hospital, Tristar Hospital and ICU has developed an online support group for people who have been affected by critical illness or may be experiencing post-intensive care syndrome (PICS). Each person’s care is under the direction of a trained physician from admission to discharge. This lead doctor collaborates with other specialists as needed.

The Physician is a trained critical care medical professional. Physicians at Tristar Hospital and ICU’s campus in Surat, are assigned full time to the ICU. Tristar Hospital and ICU provide a full range of specialty-specific services, including crisis management, advanced cardiovascular monitoring, aftercare of high-risk surgical patients, mechanical circulatory support and tracheostomies. They care for people experiencing a range of conditions, including multisystem organ failure (such as kidney and liver failure), sepsis, respiratory failure, central nervous system crises, and cardiac failure.

They partner with the doctors in the Division of Trauma, Critical Care, and General Surgery, who provide emergency surgery, intensive care after injury or surgery, and elective surgery. Critical care doctors assume a primary role in the care of patients in the medical intensive care unit at Hospital Campus.
